The Mystic Aquarium mission is pure and simple; to inspire people to care for and protect our ocean planet through conservation, education, and research. As the largest cultural attraction in Connecticut and the fourth largest in New England, the Aquarium offers a wide array of educational and engaging programs including up-close encounters with marine animals, programming that focuses on educating students of all ages, and fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. When COVID-19 hit, the Aquarium was forced to shut down temporarily in support of the global effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, Mystic Aquarium, which relies heavily on revenue from ticket sales, has lost millions -- and has been forced to make changes to the guest experience to ensure the health and safety of the animals in their care, their staff, and visitors.

Throughout the Aquarium campus dedicated custodial staff provides continuous deep cleaning during operating hours and overnight deep cleaning nightly. There are many high-touch areas that need to be continuously maintained; main entrance, gift store, café, theater, main gallery, railings, exhibits, and more. The problem - how can these staff members fulfill their duties?
