CTV-1500 Cooling Tower Vacuum

Q. What is the mesh size of the in-line sediment filter?
A. The in-line sediment filter uses a stainless steel strainer basket with 3/16” perforations to trap large debris.

Q. My CTV-1500 does not hold prime.  What’s wrong?
A. When the CTV-1500 does not hold prime, it is usually because of air leaking into the inlet water stream.  Check to be sure the in-line sediment filter cover is on tight and sealed.  Next, check for damaged or missing o-rings at the connection points between wand sections and tools.  Make sure you thoroughly understand the priming sequence as described in the Operating & Maintenance Manual.

Another potential cause for loss of prime is a low water level in the basin.  If the CTV-1500 is set for a high recovery rate, small eddies can develop in the basin water allowing air to be drawn into the pick up tool.  Try turning down the recovery rate or adding make-up water to the basin.

Q. Can extension hoses be added to the CTV-1500 for greater reach?
A. Yes, extension hoses are available for the cooling tower vacuum.  Order part number CTV-EH for a 50’ extension hose which can be used on either the inlet or outlet hoses.

Q. Do I have to shut down my cooing tower to use the CTV-1500?
A. No, the cooling tower can remain on-line during cleaning with the CTV-1500.  The fan, however, must be shut off using approved lock-out tag-out procedures.

Q. How fast is cleaning with the CTV-1500?
A. The CTV-1500 has n adjustable flow control up to 50 gallons per minute so you can control the recovery rate and, thus, the cleaning time.  Compared to the drain and shovel method of cleaning, the CTV-1500 is much faster.

Q. Can I discharge the outlet water back into the tower basin?
A. The water discharged from the CTV-1500 is not clean enough to return to the basin as the only filter in the system is the in-line sediment filter.  A filtering system is available to filter the discharge water down to 5 microns so it can be returned to the basin.
